This evening, E and I went out and got her new curtains for her room. The bright sunlight of summer nights was keeping her up late and for the last 2 mornings I have had to tickle her awake successively; tickle her, go downstairs to start making her breakfast. Go back upstairs to find her back asleep, tickle her again. Go back downstairs and start my coffee maker. Return to her room to tickle her some more and start her Best of Elmo cd. I am not a huge fan of Elmo but E is...mornings have been rough for me (oy vey on the Elmo!), but late afternoon has been rougher for E. My little E needs her 10-11 hours of sleep or she becomes a shadow of the cheerful child she is known to be. Thankfully, even after a painful evening of whining and tantrums, E actually fell asleep within a reasonable period of time.
Despite her tiredness, she has been enjoying her Spanish class and was very excited to tell me that 3 of her friends from her Saturday Spanish class are in her Spanish summer day camp. The teacher is also familiar having taught one of the older grades at her Saturday Spanish school. So E is completely comfortable attending her day camp. This week, she also starts her Special K program at the gym. It will be a more comprehensive gymnastics program to teach her more skills and prepare her for the recreational league she will be starting in the fall.
She will have a fun birthday party on Saturday and a fun playdate, I have yet to tell her about, on Sunday. This week is proving to be a busy one for E so, fingers crossed her sleep routine is on its way to working itself out...
