E gets a bank account

On Saturday, after Spanish class, E had an appointment to open up her very first bank account at the local bank. M was super sweet and E had a ball taking all her money and "giving" it to M to "hold onto" for her. M reinforced to E how important it is to learn how to save money at the bank. E won't get a bank card until she is 10, so for right now, this whole exercise is about saving money. Since she doesn't have a bank card, we will take her money to the bank and deposit it, in person, twice a year. It is a wonderful way for her to learn where her money goes when she brings it to the bank. M counted out E's $14.04 in front of her and then showed her that same amount on her passbook. It was a terrific experience for E and I am so proud at how well she did signing her name and the date and listening to M explain what her bank account does.
